ARTIST STATEMENT

My photographic artwork represents part journal and part journey itself: a record of what I've seen in the world and a path to something beyond. At times the original shot is perfectly captured in the moment; at other times I digitally manipulate color or layer elements to bring about a new vision: sur-reality.

Themes common in my work are disillisionment and the American Dream, the subjectivity of reality and deconstruction of perception, and the duality of the worlds of nature and man. Starkly contrasted subjects, often forlorn roadside attractions and relics of commercial signage, are probed to reveal their anachronistic and expressive details.

I seek to create art that makes a profound impact on the viewer, stirs the soul, and contributes to the edification of our shared reality.
